Intumescent Coatings Equipment

Intumescent coatings are an excellent way to passively protect structure materials like steel and timber in the event of a fire by thermally insulating them.

Intumescent coatings work by blocking the oxygen from getting to the substrate. When a surface treated with an intumescent coating is exposed to the direct heat from a fire, the coating can expand up to 2000% that creates a char which is a poor conductor of heat and acts as an insulating coating protecting the underlying materials from the heat of the fire and greatly reduces the rate of surface spread of flames. Without this protection, surfaces are far more susceptible to the spread of fire.

Intumescent coating on metal, plywood, gypsum board, or spray foam will provide the necessary thermal barrier to protect the integrity of building materials in a way that conventional paint can’t. This provides the vital escape time in the event of a fire in a communal building.
